Sinquefield Custom Boatworks at the Atlanta Boat Show Here are a couple of pictures from the show.
Talking about strip building while three young men prepare to ask dad for a cedar kayak of their own.
In five days time I managed to get a total of 7 inches of strips done... not really a blistering pace! Much more important was the fun I had talking with visitors and explaining the strip building process.
Strings above and below, plumbed to each other, insure the truest possible aignment to the beam, and that 6x7 inch plywood beam won't flex!
Titebond provided HiPurformer hot melt polyurethane for the show. It proved excellent when I needed to create a strong, fast, permanent bond. All of the forms are held to the beam with HiPurformer, providing a much more solid attachment than screws. Strips are edged glued using Titebond III, a remarkably strong, reliable and waterproof adhesive far superior to yellow capenters glue or the foaming polyurethanes.
