| Where we excel |

| Unique Designs: Our kayaks are based on designs of the native people of Alaska and Siberia. Our canoes are modeled after the Birch bark and canvas canoes so important to the exploration of the New World... and those aluminum canoes so important in our formative years at summer camp. Each craft is built to order, from your choice of styles, dimensions and woods. We build from hand-selected Mahagony, Cedar, Cherry, Ash, Walnut and a host of exotic hardwoods to create the look you want. Half-scale and full-scale display models are our specialty, and we offer custom stands and hangars to suit your living space. We don't do nails (or staples): We use a variety of building techniques so as not to create the rows of holes left by more common wood strip construction processes. We don't want holes in our canoes or kayaks, and we won't put them in yours. Strong and Light: We build our boats using the technique called stripping. This labor-intensive construction of fiberglass around a cedar core is as tough as the best production kayaks and yet is nearly ten pounds lighter than equivalent craft built from kevlar and twenty pounds lighter than fiberglass! Once you see one, you will understand the pride we feel for each example to leave our shop. |
